(Batsht Crazy Volatility*Higher costs) = Bond ETF discounts

I had an interesting position in March of 2020. I had alot of time on my hand because no one was picking up the phone or responding to my email messages. I was stuck in my home office watching CNBC waiting for a classic Jim Crammer meltdown moment. Instead…

Jay Kittens got out of that cage and bought some bonds!

Note this is part of the migration of posts from the SoggyBlog to Medium. The SoggyBlog will no longer be active as of the end of September. Original Post Date on Soggy Blog July, 1 2020 The Federal Reserve did an exceptional job on the transparency of the Corporate Bond ETFs they purchased in 2020. I tried to do my best with visualizing Bond ETF purchases and individual bond purchases. ETF’s were not hard but the individual bond purchases were a bit of a nightmare. The data format changed in July of 2020 for individual bonds and completely blew up my visuals so I apologize for the clarity on issuer names.

Dear Buy-side. You seem very concerned about liquidity. Can I suggest paying for it?

IT’S A PARTY IN THE U…..S…..FED

When I think of the Federal Reserve buying bonds in the SMCCF, the following scene from Old School pops up in my head - I thought it would be fun to sync up some Miley Cyrus with a visual story for all of the corporate bond purchases in the SMCCF. There is music on this version. If you want a non music version, shoot me a message at shelburne@catfixtechnology.com or click here. If your having a bad day, think of a T-Rex trying to make a bed

A warm day in London meant two things for me: long walks and cold pints. I walked everywhere and with anyone when the temps broke the 25 degree Celsius mark ( that’s around 77 Fahrenheit ). Family, friends and colleagues were forced into marches across the city with me as I refused any type of moving vehicle as a mode of transportation. The carrot at the end of the stick was always a cold pint. However, the hardest part was deciding the pub. It was always a hard decision but if a pub had a creative sidewalk sign then they had my business. I started to think about the creativity of the street advertisements in London and I thought I would share some of my favourites.

The Vendor-Puke Monologues

Act One — The Great Epiphany A colleague of mine at Bloomberg L.P. blessed me with the term Vendor-Puke after a long afternoon of writing enhancement requests for the programming team (A.K.A. DRQS & FYI Bloomberg customers, reps are very diligent about capturing customer feedback). “At the end of the day were just Vendor-Puke with some of these users” I laughed really hard and then thought about my experiences as…
